Q:Hi!
Q:Hello! Kasi, I flunked out in college. Paano kaya yun? Can I still apply? Pano malalaman kung eligible ang isang applicant or hindi? Salamat. More power.
Hmm.. not sure about your case. You may visit the UP Diliman Learning Center, or you may inquire by calling them: (02)920-2112. You may also check the upou website at www2.upou.edu.ph
Q:Thank you so much for that. Yes, I am transferring from X university to Y. May I ask when is the entrance exam for UPOU? :) And, is it hard?
Hi, you may check www2.upou.edu.ph for the schedule of the exams. There should be a link for the acad calendar. Well the exam was relatively easy for me.
Q:na credit ba lahat ng subject na tinake mo sa AA nung pumasok ka na ng BES?
Yes, but then I really made sure that the courses I was taking can be credited to BES. In other words you really have to be mindful of the courses you take under the AA program so that everything will be credited to your prospective program post AA.
Q:Hi! It's me again. And, by the way thank you for answering my question months ago. It really helped. :) well, I just need to ask again this question. What if I finished my first year of college in X university, but I stopped for awhile. I could take the Entrance exams at it's right time, but I can't enroll right away. However, Am I allowed to enroll at the second semester by then?
So you mean to say you’re re-enrolling? You would have to apply for readmission, since your status in that case would be AWOL, or absence without leave. You don’t have to take the entrance exams again if you’re re-enrolling.
But if you mean to say you’re transferring from X university to Y university, then you would have to take another entrance exam. At UPOU you can enroll at any trimester provided that you passed the exam and completed the requirements for readmission.
Q:How difficult is UGAT? Can you please give me tips, thank you :)
Fairly easy. It had 4 parts when I took it, reading comprehension, english / grammar, math, and essay questions at the end. :)
Q:Is it possible for an AA student to shift to a BS degree?
Yes it is, but it’s better if you finish the program first. :)
Q:Good day. I came across about UP online university just now. And, I am interested to take a course with them. Are they still accepting applicants now even the entrance exams are over?
I think they accept applicants all year round, though the entrance exams have specific dates. You can apply but you have to wait for the next scheduled entrance exam. Just check www2.upou.edu.ph for more info.
Hope this helps :)
Q:Hello! I'm Kasmir :) I just wanted to ask about how the classes are handled in OU. We get that it's all online with occasional visits but what is it really like the online classrooms? Like how is it a classroom? How does it work?
Every instructor or “Faculty in Charge” (FIC) has a different “online classroom”, or his/her approach to online teaching, but basically what you would normally find in an online classroom are:
1) asynchronous online discussion boards - this is where you discuss with your classmates and FIC. There is also a separate forum where your instructor would post announcements.
2) online quizzes
3) online reading materials or pdf copies of your books (modules) - brace yourself for tons, I mean literally tons of readings materials, and these will be the basis of your quizzes, exams, forums, and proctored exams.
You may want to try this online course that will be offered by UPOU in partnership with SMART, so you’ll get a feel of the online classroom environment. :)
“SMART and UPOU to Offer MOOC on Android Apps Development
The Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) of UP Open University and SMART Communications Inc. offer its very first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) entitled “Introduction to Mobile Application Development using the Android Platform.” This is part of SMART and UPOU partnership agreement signed last February 20, 2013.
The said course aims to equip students with necessary skills and know-how to deploy android applications for android phones and tablets. The course will be handled by Ronald L.
Ramos, IT Specialist from SMART.
The course will be the very first MOOC to be offered through FICS MOOC site Aral. Aral is the online platform for the UPOU-FICS Massive Open Online Courses. The course will start on July 1, 2013. Individuals interested in taking the course can sign up at http://fics.upou.edu.ph/aral. The course is free of charge.”
Revamping this site
My chronological photo blog obviously didn’t work, so I’m going to revamp this blog to be no longer chronological, and it will no longer be a photo blog as well. Since I’ve also received some inquiries regarding the University of the Philippines Open University, I’ll just have this site to focus on that. I’ll be posting random thoughts (and rants) as well, so there. :D
